M- means Alt (=Meta), so I don't think so.

Meta is Escape in Emacs-speak. And when I type Esc-C I see:

  [ Constant cursor position display enabled ]

But some terminals like xterm translate Alt-x -> Esc-X, so that's the same in this case.

I guess it's a timeout-issue with the ncurses-programs.
