But Esc-C is the VT52-code for cursor-right, so there might be a clash.

M- means Alt (=Meta), so I don't think so.

However, nano seems to use ncurses, so you need the terminfo terminal database. On my home cooked system, it is in /usr/lib/terminfo.

Not tested, though.
