I don't see a problem with branches. People get to play and others
easily review work. A lot of open source software work in branches while
developing new features.

It's what Frank suggested for my enhancements branch, and having an
xaaes branch doesn't seem bad given it's 200KB of patch. It would allow
developers to see Helmut's code in a common place.

Well, I'm happy if Helmut wants to do the above, but a branch is still
open as well, and I'll do that if Helmut sends me the code.
