Yes. You only run it if you need it/want to use it. It can easily be replaced. It can easily be maintaned. But most importantly, there's nothing with BubbleGEM that can be improved by moving it's functionality inside the OS.
If the original protocol is a bit undesirable then perhaps it should
be deprecated and a better AES bubble-help system created ?

The protocol is fine as long as it's properly used. But it's not suitable for an OS call. And a new API will only add incompatibility.
