Could this perhaps be a text cursor that, for whatever reason, is
displayed (badly) even though the screen is supposed to be used by the
AES?

Please, let me know about those problems, and I'll see what I can do.

I just won an online "bidding war" on a Radeon 9250, so I should be
all set when my CTPCI shows up. :-)
(The price was 6 euro until the final hours of the bidding, but ended
up at 25. :-I.)

With fVDI and MiNT, or what?

Again, this sounds like a text cursor.

If you run NVDI on top of fVDI, the latter will be used as a kind of
graphics driver. That is, NVDI will be in charge of all drawing,
passing on primitives to fVDI. This means that any font setup done in
fvdi.sys will be pointless, but anything to do with screen and fVDI
configuration is still valid.
