Re: [MiNT] Localisation of other MiNT SW

Hi,

first I should to confess that I am not a coder.
I am only able to write Bash scripts and did projects in PHP.
So I miss a deep knowledge of C, TOS (AES, VDI, GEM), CVS etc.

Hello,

after I finished translating XaAES I am looking for more possibilities (or needs) of translating.
And there are some programs in the "tools" directory, namely fsetter and toswin2.
Both are in English and German, but German is the default RSC.

I think, we should unify the default language of all SW in FreeMiNT, so to exchange the English
and German RSCs in fsetter and toswin2.

Do you want to translate the rsc-files?

Yes, the strings from RSC files (for now).
Maybe also the readme file for fsetter, but it is a plain text, so no technical problem for me.

You may also use the same method as for xaaes009.rsl:

set rsc_lang=1 in app_options for toswin2, and use the generated rsl-file.

I appologize, but I do not know how to make a rsl-file (there are no rsls in toswin2 and fsetter).
When I translated some SW in the past I directly edited the RSC file with RSC editor.
But I prefer the rsl-file method.
Sou could somebody please prepare for me (and maybe other translators) the rsl-file?

In tools/toswin2/english/ there is a file de-en.txt which is similar to xaaes009.rsl.
Can I use it for translation?

It says

# RSCTRAN conversion file

so it is from some RSC-translation-prog.

Yes, it seems to be. But can I use it for the translation or wait till somebody prepare rsl file for me?

When I looked to the CVS, I saw there also COPS and HYPView.
I would like to translate them too.
But why weren't they part of the 1.17.0 release?

Thanks.
