Not *rely*, but they need to *support* such behaviour. BTW: How is it in MagiC? I would guess it does it also in super mode... So.. the 2 OSes they need to support are one doing it one way and the other another...

So... maybe I would not care about that much, but it is not clean in any way. Nonetheless we would not get the proposed AES extention to MagiC so there is not really a way for complete portability...

But imagine, you don't need to introduce a complete different way of handling mouse clicks and everything when you need to handle desktop window (root window). This is incovenient and it eats also some memory and programming time. Moreover I think it would be cleaner approach than having the desktop window something weird that can only contain OBJECT tree....
