[MiNT] The whole network glob

Hi all,

I'm attempting to upgrade MiNT Net to 1.04, and I'm having
a bit of trouble.

First, a bit of background. The old GlueSTiK dies under memory
protection. "No problem", I thought, "I'll just use Frank's new one."
Well, Frank's new GlueSTiK seems to lock up my network connection
sometimes:

   New GlueSTiK running
   ---------------------
   NEWSie - waiting for reply
   CAB - waiting for reply
ping to dummy host - waiting for reply

   Kill of new GlueSTiK
   --------------------
   NEWSie and CAB still waiting
   ping responds back

   Re-start new GlueSTiK
   ---------------------
   NEWSie - waiting for reply
   CAB - waiting for reply
ping to dummy host - waiting for reply

So, I thought that maybe it's because I'm using an older version
of MiNTNet (1.01 or 1.03, I don't remember which).

On attempting to upgrade to 1.04, things start to break. During
PPP negotiation, the pppd cannot seem to send data out via the
serial port. I see numerouts "RD" modem light blinkies, but no
"SD" modem light blinkies:

Feb 21 23:43:50 Ozland2 pppd[42]: Serial connection established.
Feb 21 23:43:50 Ozland2 pppd[42]: Using interface ppp0
Feb 21 23:43:50 Ozland2 pppd[42]: Connect: ppp0 <--> /dev/ttyb
Feb 21 23:43:50 Ozland2 pppd[42]: sent [LCP ConfReq id=0x1 <mru 1500> <asyncmap
Feb 21 23:44:18 Ozland2 last message repeated 9 times
Feb 21 23:44:22 Ozland2 pppd[42]: LCP: timeout sending Config-Requests
Feb 21 23:44:22 Ozland2 pppd[42]: Connection terminated.
Feb 21 23:44:22 Ozland2 pppd[42]: Hangup (SIGHUP)
Feb 21 23:44:22 Ozland2 pppd[42]: Exit.

I don't think MiNTNet 1.04 needs Franks' new serial driver, since MiNTNet
1.04 was out in July and the serial drivers came out last month.

I've backed out the upgrade, and things seem to be back to normal.
Any suggestions would be great.

Thanks,
