A relaunch quits and launches the binary again, while a restart (C-A-J)  
jumps to init without reloading the binary.

There is a shell-interface for load_grd, show_bubble, load_config by  
printing some magic strings into the alert-pipe.
This could be extended.

Or sending a certain signal (kill -x <pid of AESSYS or whatever>) could  
also be a solution.

Or always restart whenever the resolution (video) has changed?
