I am trying to install SpareMiNT manually, not using EasyMiNT installer as a base, just relying on the documentation at
wiki.sparemint.org.
In the parts of the Wiki pages that talk about the users and groups setup, as a possible starting point, KGMD and KEMD distributions are mentioned. However, a FreeMiNT only starting point is not considered (my case).

so that installation procedures can rely on it. If you have previously
installed a MiNT distribution such as KGMD or KEMD your setup will
probably very close to our needs.
What's the recommended way of going about setting up /etc/passwd in particular, in my situation?
