Because then somebody will start writing GEM-apps that for no good
reasons (well, probably because unix does this so then it must be cool)
expects to find it's files in various locations on a "standard" folder
hierarchy instead of inside it's own folder. And then people like me
would have to either not use this potentially cool app or bite the dust
and complicate our setups.
