I think the rule should be:
MiNT is not UNIX, it is an enhanced TOS.

Actually, MiNT stands for "MiNT is not TOS". Not MiNU.

That was the original meaning. Since 1992 or so it has been "MiNT is Now TOS".

Also, I quite like this quote from Eric Smith:
"ERS: I think that's overly ambitious. MiNT is not really intended to be Unix, and I think it's better to go with Linux for that. Mostly I intended MiNT to be a "better TOS", with enough Unix like features that porting software from Unix would be easy. I think MiNT has largely succeeded at this."

Of course, this is 20 years ago now, but I still like this idea. And it's how I use MiNT today.
