Back in the mists of time I used to read bits about Mint in Atari
mags and never really found out much about it. I think a lot of people
were/are put off by stuff they don't know about.
Only when I got the Milan (which came with Mint) did I start to use
it. I anticipated getting Magic Milan but it took so long to appear
that I had got used to Mint my then.
The original installation was very minimal. It had Mint in the AUTO
folder and NAES. No U:\ partitition and so sign on /etc /home /usr
and so on.
Later I dabbled with Jo Evens basic set-up that installed a /etc system on
FAT and at that point I realised what Mint was about. Had I not done that
I probably would never have bothered.
I then created an ext2 partition and moved the stuff across and then
later expanded it with Easymint packages.
I think lack of knowledge of Mint and the way the docs often start with
the complex stuff has put many people off Mint. Until recently most
Unix type docs started off by telling you how to compile the software
rather than what it does or how to use it.
