Dir or harddisk image based emulation?  At least latter works with MiNT
when using Hatari (with memory protection turned off as Hatari doesn't
emulate MMU).

I guess GEMDOS based emulation doesn't work because MiNT file system
drivers use lower level access to the underlying HW.
