You don't have to run them from /boot/mint/mint.cnf.  Just leave them in
the auto folder.  MiNT executes all following programs from /boot/auto.

The problem (and the reason why mint.prg is usually the last program in
/boot/auto on most setups) is that auto folder programs tend to be too
rude and dirty to run under MiNT and you often have good reason to place
them physically before MiNT.
