[MiNT] ifconfig and other news
Hello y'all!
A bit of everything in this post.
***
Ifconfig and MiNTNET
Since re-installing new binaries of everything on my new HDD,
the only part that has systematically refused to work is Net.
At first, I thought it might be because it explicitely wants
certain binaries in specific places, but then I couldn't find
any hard-coded paths anywhere (except in slattach.c).
Previously, on the old KGMD setup, if the binaries were in
/usr/sbin instead of /usr/etc ifconfig would still create the
loopback, but now even that fails.

AUTO folder patches
Otherwise, I have noticed that Wdialog works really great, but
is mutually exclusive to any serial patch. Fast_Serial works
better than HS-Modem, but even then I have to boot it after MiNT.
Btw, this is a trend I've seen recently with just about every
AUTO folder app, recently: run everything after MiNT, it works
better. Wasn't it the other way around, previously?
Oh, about Fast_serial, do any of you fine german folks know where
to get a hold of Franz Sirl? Fast_Serial is _much_ nicer than
HS-Modem and even auto-detects the brand and type of SCC, or if
the SCC was modified for 14 MHz operation for higher baudrates.
It would be great if it could be integrated into the kernel.

GCC "specs" file
My GCC now lives in the more common path /usr/bin, so where
do I put the specs file?
***
NAS June 11-13, Sweden
Is anybody going this year? It would be nice to meet new faces.

NMD progress
Getting there _quite_ fast, since this weekend. Only Net
remains a bugger. Otherwise, more and more packages get
ported for the first time or updated from old KGMD.
The new 4.5 gigger IBM really is a breeze to work with,
so is the new NMD environment. It allows me to maintain
similar config files at work on Linux and at home on MiNT.
Lovely, lovely, lovely! ;-)
