Not needed, thanks. ;-)

Yes, and this is a good thing.

However, your reply and Jo answered my question. TOS does _not_
have a $HOME on our machines anymore. Do you beleive in Magic?

SingleTOS is deprecated, obviously, but it also implies one must
have a rock-solid MagiC or MiNT setup, with a suitable desktop,
if we wanna avoid _needless_ file duplication (I say needless,
because in some cases, it _is_ possible to use several configs
when operating within a multi-user environment, so there is a
need in _that_ specific case).

Open question:

What would be a suitable way to operate a MiNTOS (or GEMINIT)
setup, fo a single-user configuration, without having to login
as root all the time?

For example, let's pretend I only have a Stacy with a mere 4 MB
of RAM, so I wanna reduce my RAM-usage overhead, but still wanna
be able to run INETD and a few other daemons and opearate this
with MultiTOS (AES 4.1).

I need to be able to perform maintenance tasks (normally done as
user root), but otherwise do everything as user q-funk, including
creating files on Thing.

Any tricks to manage that?

In case you don't see where this is leading, I am trying to find
a way to create a sub-mini installation that would only take about
1.5 MB of RAM, so someone can benefit from multitasking, mintnet,
MultiTOS, without having to revert to Magic (because MiNT and its
packages take too much RAM, so it won't fit on an ST, etc.).
