It seems to me that it (problems with screen expanders, bvooting in AES
etc) may be a memory management problem. Example: if I switch resolution
from 800x600/16 to 800x600/256 just after a reboot, everything works fine.
But if the computer was running for some time before that and several
applications were used, an attempt to switch res causes a s[pectacular
crash. Not quite a problem for me, because I do 99% of my work in 16
colours, but anyway...

Might new kmalloc()-stuff be it? Frank?
