Attack of Curiosity

What is the possibility of converting the libs of another system so that they
reflect the hardware and environment of another system.  When a source is
compiled using the converted libraries, will the resulting app. run properly
on the other computer.


Basically the question is:

I have source code for System A.  However I have System B.  I gathered all of
the necessary libs for compiling most programs for System A but I modified
them to use the attributes available on System B.  Therefore, now I can
download source code for System A and have it compiled to run on System B.

Is this ridiculous?  Is it possible?  There I go with my curiousity again.
