sh compiler?

Hello,

I have observed that even on my TT, shell scripts run very slowly. For
example, inews can take perhaps 10-20 seconds just to post a news article.

I'm wondering whether there is some way of speeding this up, perhaps by
somehow compiling the shell script into an executable, or something.

Any ideas?
